JOURNEY TO THE SAFARI IN LIGHTWEIGHT LINENS
April 23, 2008

As Madonna and Mariah aggressively battle it out for the number one alpha spot on the billboards, you can’t help but picture a clan of combating lions in vicious warfare on a desert-strewn safari landscape.

Take in your own at-home view of the African plains with spring's breezy, natural linens. Embellishments and embroidery can be paired with clean safari styling in crisp whites, chocolate browns, and natural tones- the perfect complement to a sun-kissed glow.

Start your spring expedition in relaxed, easy-pocketed trousers - worn cropped or long and bohemian-feeling. Try a casual, wide leg trouser with a tailored shrunken pinstriped vest and a lightweight white linen jacket. When wearing a fuller-cut trouser, ensure that your top half is proportioned with a more slim-cut, fitted top. Accentuate the look with heaps of accessories in wood, plastic, and metal. A platform sandal will add a little height and give just a little peek of sexiness to the look.

Pair up a breezy summery linen skirt with a pretty beaded lace tank and top it all off with a three-quarter length chocolate blazer. When the temperatures start to rise, lose the jacket and add a few more casual accessories to take the look to a new level.

Accessorize your safari ensemble with a simple, long gold necklace, gold bangles, and a feminine statement ring to keep the look effortless. Polish the look off with a stylish ombré heel, and a matching clutch.
